I ordered six packs across the various PTA tippler wagon releases, and the models themselves are fantastic. The level of detail, finish and overall presentation is extremely impressive.
The standard price is almost £180 for each five-wagon pack, comparable to some DCC-ready locomotives from Accurascale. I ordered six packs to qualify for the 15% discount offered when purchasing five or more. Although this was a welcome incentive, it still represented a substantial purchase.
Unfortunately, this particular pack arrived with the box badly damaged following an impact to its side. Despite the wagons being protected within the inner plastic case, one of the delicate detail parts had become detached from a wagon and was loose inside the packaging. This suggests that the fixing or glue was not sufficiently strong to withstand the impact.
It is a real shame, as these are otherwise superb wagons and among the best detailed tipplers I have seen. However, at this price level, I would expect the delicate components to remain securely attached while protected inside the case. The damaged box and detached component took some of the shine off receiving this particular pack.
